Born on 23 December 1951 in Douala, Dr BOMBA NKOLO née ATANGANA ABENE Cécile hails from the Centre Region, Republic of Cameroon.

After university studies, she obtained a Doctorate in Medicine at the University Centre for Health Science in the University of Yaounde, in 1977, and then in 1989, she obtained a Certificat d’Aptitude en Planification Familiale at Université Libre of Brussels.

In terms of professional career, prior to her appointment as member of the Electoral Board in 2008, Dr BOMBA NKOLO Cécile had held the following top positions:

  • Minister of Social Affairs, from 2002 to 2004;
  • Director of Cooperation in the Ministry of Public Health, from 1998 to 2002;
  • Member of the National Assembly, Member of the Law Commission from 1992 to 1997;
  • Division Head for Training and Cooperation in the Ministry of Public Health, from 1989 to 1992;
  • Service Head for Training and Further Training in the Ministry of Public Health, from 1984 to1989;
  • Doctor in charge at the Pediatric Unit of the Hôpital Central of Yaounde, from 1977 to 1984.

In terms of distinctions, Dr BOMBA NKOLO Cécile is:

  • Commander of the Order of Valour;
  • Officer of the Order of Valour;
  • Knight of the Order of Valour.

She took oath on 29 December 2009 before the Supreme Court, seating as the Constitutional Council: “I swear to fully and faithfully discharge my duties and to exercise my office without fear or favour in accordance with the Constitution and laws in force, to ensure the confidentiality of proceedings and votes, to abstain from taking public positions and to decline any consultation on matters falling under the purview of Elections Cameroon”
