Nga Gasper Thairinyuy

The regional Delegate of ELECAM for North West

Mr. Nga Gasper Thairinyuy was born on September 12, 1971 at Bambui in the North-West Region of Cameroon.

Son of the North-West Region, Mr. Nga Gasper Thairinyuy obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature at the University of Yaounde and a Master’s Degree in English Literature from the Eastern Mediterranean University of Cyprus. 

These academic achievements led to his successful occupation of the following duty positions:

  • ELECAM Divisional Branch Head for Bui, from 2010 to 2012;
  • Part-time English Language lecturer at ENSET Bambili, from 2011to 2012;
  • Sports instructor and Head of English Department at Samanyulo Lisesi Ankara, Turkey, from 2004 to 2006;
  • Head of English Department at Yildrim Koleji-Turkey Eregli, from 2003 to 2004;
  • Social Events Officer and lecturer at the Catholic School of Health Sciences, Shisong –Cameroon, from 1998 to 1999;
  • Vice-Principal and discipline master at the Girls Vocational School, Djottin, from 1996 to 1998;
  • Social Events Officer at Christ the King – Kumbo, from 1995 to 1996;

Apart from his professional career as a teacher, Mr. Nga Gasper Thairinyuy has been:

  • Vice-President of the Association of African Students of Cyprus, from 2001 to 2002;
  • President of the Association of Cameroonian Students of Cyprus in 2002;
  • Staff  Representative of  Samanyulu Lisesi, Ankara, Turkey in 2005;
  • Election Observer for an NGO during the Cypriot presidential election in 2005;
  • Chairperson of the Polling Station of Tooy -Kumbo, during the twin elections of 2007;
  • Economic operator in the livestock sector.

Appointed by Decision No. 0007/ELECAM/CE of 10 September 2012, he was inducted into his functions on September 13, 2012 at Bamenda by the Deputy Director General of Elections.

Responsible for election operations and referendums within the said region, Mr. Nga Gasper Thairinyuiy controls a 257-strong staff comprising senior staff, intermediate staff and junior staff spanning the 7 divisional branches and 34 council branches of the region. For any purpose it may serve, the North-West spreads over 17 812 km2, with a population of 1 840 500 inhabitants, representing a density of 103 inhabitants per km2. Bamenda is its chief town.

Mr. Nga Gasper Thairinyuiy is author of several publications among which are:

  • Reading Craft, a tridimensional book on comprehension, currently in the curriculum of many school establishments in the Black Sea Region of Turkey, published by The Spring Publications, edited by Dr. Nilgun Yorganci.
