Born on December 23, 1951 in Douala, Dr. BOMBA NKOLO née ATANGANA ABENE Cécile is from the Centre Region of the Republic of Cameroon.

At the end of her university studies, she obtained a PhD in Medicine in 1977 from the Yaounde University Centre for Health Science. In 1989, she obtained a ‘Certificat d’Aptitude en Planification Familiale’ at the ‘Université Libre’ of Brussels.

With regard to her professional career, before her appointment in 2008 as member of the Electoral Board, Dr. BOMBA NKOLO Cécile had held the following key positions:

  • Minister of Social Affairs, from 2002 to 2004;
  • Director of Cooperation at the Ministry of Public Health, from 1998 to 2002;
  • MP at the National Assembly, Member of the Laws Commission from 1992 to 1997;
  • Head of the Division in charge of Training and Cooperation at the Ministry of Public Health from 1989 to 1992;
  • Head of the Service in charge of Training and Re-training at the Ministry of Public Health from 1984 to 1989;
  • Medical practitioner at the paediatrics wing of the Yaounde Central Hospital from 1977 to 1984.

In terms of honorary distinctions, Dr. BOMBA NKOLO Cécile is:

  • Commander of the National Order of Valour;
  • Officer of the National Order of Valour;
  • Knight of the National Order of Valour.

On December 29, 2009, she took the following oath of office before the Constitutional Council; “I swear to fully and faithfully discharge my duties and to exercise my office without fear or favour in accordance with the Constitution and laws in force, to ensure the confidentiality of proceedings and votes, to abstain from taking public positions and to decline any consultation on matters falling within the purview of Elections Cameroon.”
