According to section 243 of the Electoral Code, regional councilors shall be delegates of divisions elected by indirect universal suffrage and representatives of traditional rulers elected by their peers.

In view of the election of regional councilors, the Electoral College shall be convened by the President of the Republic at least 45 (forty five) days before the date of the poll. In all the regions, electoral colleges shall be convened the same day and each division shall constitute a constituency for the said election.

However, certain electoral constituencies could be warded on the grounds of their peculiar situations by a decree of the President of the Republic.

The chairperson of the Electoral Board of Elections Cameroon, the Director General of Elections Cameroon amongst other frontline staff received in audience a three man delegation from the Commonwealth led by Dr Micheal Wardlaw, Chief Commissioner for the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland. This meeting had as main objective to share experience between U.K and Cameroon, on fundamental issues of public institutions to improve fairness, confidence and transparency of public service. Also in attendance were the Representatives of Scotland Public Services Ombudsman and Adviser to National Human Rights Institute Serbia.

Elections Cameroon took part yesterday, 27 March 2019, at the launching ceremony for the Support Programme for the Promotion of Persons with Disabilities of the Centre Region.

The Programme is a follow-up of the first phase of the Centre Cameroon Cluster Programme, based on three main axes namely; inclusive education, eye health and social inclusion of persons with disabilities.

The launching ceremony, designed to encourage stakeholders of the said Programme to appropriate activities, witnessed the participation of Elections Cameroon in mainstreaming persons with disabilities in the electoral process.


ELECTIONS CAMEROON: officials of the Division in charge of Information Technology, the Register of Voters and of Statistics and of the Division in charge of Electoral Operations and Referendums are currently laying the groundwork for upcoming polls at Elections Cameroon Branches.

Service Heads of Information Technology (IT), of the Register of Voter and of the IT Network (SIFERG), in collaboration with our German partners, are since Monday, 25 March 2019 upgrading the performance the new second generation enrolment kits to enhance their performance and resistance to local realities.

The President of the Electoral Board, Enow Abrams Egbe, recently chaired the 1ST Ordinary Session of the Electoral Board, for the year 2019 with the Director General of Elections and the Deputy in attendance.


On Tuesday, 12 February 2019 at the Mont Fébé Hotel Yaounde, ELECAM, in partnership with UNDP, presented the report of the workshop on lessons learnt from the electoral process in Cameroon and the presidential election of 7 October 2018, which held at the Sawa Hotel in Douala from 26 to 30 November 2018.
