Electoral Board ELECAM: official launching of the national consultation platform between Elections Cameroon and other stakeholders of the electoral process.

The Mont Febe Hotel in Yaounde served as venue this Friday, 8 August 2023 for the official launching ceremony of the national platform for permanent consultation between Elections Cameroon and other stakeholders of the electoral process. This consultation falls in line with ELECAM’s strategy to organise peaceful elections in future that are acceptable to all.

During this ceremony, certain participants presented papers on the following themes:

  • General presentation of the regulatory and operational framework of the platform for permanent consultation.
  • Stakes and challenges to inclusion in the electoral process.
  • Impact of the participation of stakeholders of the electoral process in the success of an election.
  • Measures to adopt to ensure greater participation of youth and women.
  • Mitigating measures for obstacles to the engagement of stakeholders of the electoral process.

The advent of this platform constitutes a novel factor that should boost general transparency and credibility in activities relating to the electoral process.

The election management body is conscious of the need to encourage the capability for each stakeholder to play their role fully.

At the end of this ceremony, participants formulated certain recommendations and suggestions in view of greater inclusiveness through the engagement of stakeholders of the electoral process.
