Participation of the Cameroonian diaspora in the electoral process: ELECAM steps up enrolment on electoral registers in Cameroon’s diplomatic representations.

Section 272 of the Electoral Code provides that Cameroonian citizens settled or residing abroad may get their names entered on electoral registers by focal points within diplomatic representations or consular posts in their countries of residence or attachment. It is for this purpose that a mission composed of officials from the Directorate General of Elections and ELECAM Branches has taken to the international scene since 20 April, a trip that should end on 19 May 2024. In this way, ELECAM are crisscrossing the 47 Cameroonian diplomatic representations abroad with a view to optimise and boost the activities of Focal Points as part of the electoral process, notably in the technical field, as well as to meet the expectations of Cameroonians residing or settled abroad, the goal being to enable them enrol on electoral registers, in view of their participation in the presidential election set for 2025.
